Hey kiddos! How do you like my new reading nook? The rest of the house is still in boxes, but I couldn't wait to show you this! To break in the new room, I thought we should do something a little different today. At times I get questions that I can't answer. Today, I will reveal my weakness. Today, Your Dad fails. Mischief Macaroon: Hey dad do you know anything about chemistry? I’m learning about it and I wanted to know if you knew anything about it. I haven’t done any chemistry since 1999, when I was in ninth grade. I’m betting a lot of you — maybe most of you — weren’t even born then! So, I don’t really know anything about chemistry other than to be careful with chemicals, and that BTB stands for Bromothymol Blue. This is all I remember from chemistry class. Morgan: Dad, how do I make the best bagel? I love strawberry jam and chive cream cheese on an everything bagel, but I can tell that there is better. Uh, well... here’s the thing. Sweden doesn’t really have a bagel culture. If you’re lucky, you can find Plain or American bagels at the grocery store and that’s pretty much... it. I did have a bagel in the US once fifteen years ago! But I just got plain with lox and cream cheese, because I wanted a Pure Bagel Experience. That is the extent of my bagel knowledge. Dierskell: Hey dad, I’m worried about driving for the first time and getting my permit. I feel too old to just be getting my permit and not the license, but I’m just a bit scared. Any advice?
Anxiety-Haver: What are the basics of how to drive? I'm almost ready for a learners permit so I need to know!
Glubgogabgala: How do you fix your car? Oh, my dear children. You should probably sit down for this one. As you know, I turned 40 this April. I’m officially middle-aged. I don't have a license. I’ve never even driven a car! Zero driving lessons! The last time I travelled by car was three years ago! I know absolutely nothing about cars! The wonders of public transportation and walkable cities, I suppose. So don’t worry - you’re not too old and you’re definitely much better at it than I’ll ever be! You got this! Shiny Chicken Cheez: Got any advice on how to train my dragon? Falconry gloves, fire resistant coat, positive reinforcement and plenty of species-appropriate snacks. Don’t forget to take breaks! You don’t want to overwhelm your dragon! Blazing Aurora: Dad, did you love your children and grow them well?  Y’know, I really hope so. I don’t think that’s up to me to decide though. How am I doing? Do you feel loved and taken care of? NotSoSocial: Can you give some advice on fishing? Fishing is another thing I know next to nothing about, so here’s a photo of me the first and last time I went fishing! I couldn't find the photo, so here's a recreation from memory. I'm six years old, holding the smallest fish. There are some things you just never really come into contact with. Fishing is that for me. I don’t know anyone who’s into fishing. It’s uncharted territory. But that’s exciting in itself! I don’t know anything about bagels, or cars, or fishing or chemistry but maybe YOU do! Do you have advice on these topics?
