The Company
Rowan Oats is the pen name of ▓▓▓▓▓, an artist and writer from Stockholm, Sweden. They were first published in 2007, in Seriefrämjandets Mangatalangen. Since then, they’ve been published in a range of indie comic anthologies, as well as editorial comics in The Nib. They were also a frequent contributor to Filthy Figments, an online erotic comic publisher, between 2016 and 2026.
They went to art school in the mid-2000’s, but the less said about that the better.
The company was registered as a Sole Trader in Sweden in 2011, and is registered for F-tax.
Company Mission
My goal is to tell stories that are earnest and complex, with characters that feel multi-dimensional. A lot of my inspiration comes from history and folklore, and I aim to provide a more nuanced perspective by writing fiction through a queer lens.
I am driven by a people-over-profit mindset, which in practice means that I try to keep my work available to as many as possible, especially low or no income people. Company Morals
Rowan Oats as a company and as a person is staunchly against the right-wing movement, in all its grotesque shapes. I will always stand on the side of the worker, the immigrant, the HBTQ-community, the displaced and oppressed. Trans women are women. Sex work is work. No human is illegal.
In addition, I am violently opposed to any use of generative AI, no matter the purpose. It is anti-labour and actively harming the environment, as well as cognitively damaging to anyone who uses it. There are no excuses.
