Made in 2020 as an Advent Present for my mom, since we couldn't spend Christmas together that year. I don't know if she enojyed the comic, but she liked the effort. It's the count that thoughts after all.

It's about Swedish folklore and the tradition of doing the Year Walk, a harrowing and sometimes deadly experience that allows you to see the path of the coming year. This retelling isn't as dramatic by any stretch, but you can't get a boon from the Unseen without some kind of sacrifice...

Panel one. A residential area, with several 1950's highrises.

Panel two. We zoom in on one of the apartments. There's a light on in the window.

Panel three. We see the window clearly. A young person with short red hair is sitting by a desk, looking out.

Panel four. The person looks out the window onto the dark winter sky.

Panel five. The alarm on their phone goes off. It's a quarter to midnight.

Panel six. They tuck the phone into their pocket and get ready to leave.

Panel seven. They leave the room.

Panel eight. They sneak by the living room. An older man is asleep on the couch, illuminated by the TV static.

Panel nine. Our protagonist quietly puts on their sneakers in the dark hall.

Panel ten. They leave the apartment, silently closing the door behind them.

Panel eleven. They head down the stairwell, stomach growling loudly.

Panel twelve. They're outside the building, putting up the hood to keep the winter chill at bay.

Panel thirteen. They head away from the apartment, onto a pathway past bare trees and a lamp post.

Panel fourteen. They pass an old man walking his dog.

Panel fifteen. They head down the main street. It's empty and dark. A silhouette of a church can be seen at the end of the road.

Panel sixteen. They have arrived at their destination, their face shadowed by the imposing figure of the church.

Panel seventeen. The clock starts to strike midnight. Bong, bong.

Panel eighteen. Our protagonist rushes around the church, all the while the clocks keep bonging. Bong bong.

Panel nineteen. They round a corner. Bong bong.

Panel twenty. Closeup of their sneakers. Bong bong.

Panel twentyone. They've successfully rounded the church. Bong bong.

Panel twenty-two. The clock strikes twelve. Our protagonist waits with baited breath.

Panel twenty-three. A light shines on our protagonist, knocking the hood off their head.

Panel twenty-four. The church grim emerges, a massive angelic creature wrapped in deep blue and gold silk, their skin porcelain and their face resembling a white rooster. They carry with them the New Year.
